The Frontier League was established in 1931, and the first charter schools were Adams, Alexandria Bay, Brownville, Clayton, Pulaski, and Sackets Harbor. Six-man football was the first sport. Carthage and Watertown did not gain access until the 1980s as they were deemed 'too big.' After many mergers over the years and the expansion of the Ft. Drum military installation, the League now comprises 17 schools.
The table and map below show the NYSPHSAA classification of each school as well as their location within Jefferson, Lewis, and Oswego counties.
The Frontier League offers the following sports:
Boys- Modified Football, Cross-Country, Soccer, Basketball, Bowling, Swim, Wrestling, Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Lacrosse, Track & Field
Girls- Cross-Country, Fall Cheer, Swim, Tennis, Soccer, Basketball, Bowling, Volleyball, Winter Cheer, Softball, Golf, Lacrosse, Track & Field
