Section III Announces Ratification of Officials Service Agreement (2026–2030)

Section III is pleased to announce the successful ratification of a new Officials Service Agreement covering the 2026–2030 seasons. The agreement was approved by an overwhelming majority of member schools as well as official’s boards. This represents an important step forward in strengthening interscholastic athletics across the Section.

This agreement reflects a shared commitment to stability, collaboration, and the long-term sustainability of officiating. Quality officiating is essential to educational athletics, and this agreement provides a strong foundation to support the recruitment, retention, and development of officials who serve our student-athletes and school communities.

Just as importantly, this moment provides an opportunity to reaffirm our collective responsibility to promote sportsmanship and respect. Officials, like coaches and student-athletes, deserve to work in an environment free from abuse, intimidation, and harassment. Section III will continue to advocate for a positive sports culture in which competition is intense, but respect remains paramount.

With this agreement in place, Section III encourages individuals interested in becoming officials to consider joining one of many local officiating organizations. Officiating offers a meaningful way to stay connected to sports, give back to the community, build comradery, and positively impact the educational experience of student-athletes all while earning extra money.

Section III thanks the negotiation teams, school leaders, and officials who worked collaboratively to reach this agreement and looks forward to continued partnership in the years ahead.
